I didn't make Beauty and the Beast. Which really sucks since I think I had a good audition. I'm not depressed about it, but I'm rather put off.... I just wanted to post that. I'll post again after rehersal.

What TESB did not show- [Jun. 8th, 2005|12:31 am]

[GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!! |Wh We Tell the Story ~ OOTI]

What TESB did not show-

A furious lightsaber duel is underway. DARTH VADER is backing LUKE SKYWALKER towards the end of the gantry. A quick move by Vader, chops off Luke's hand! It goes spinning off into the ventilation shaft. Luke backs away. He looks around, but realizes there's nowhere to go but straight down.

Darth Vader: Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father.

Luke: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!

Darth Vader: No... I am your father!

Luke: No, it's not true! It's impossible.

Darth Vader: Search your feelings... you know it to be true...

Luke: NO!

Darth Vader: Yes, it is true... and you know what else? You know that brass droid of yours?

Luke: Threepio?

Darth Vader: Yes... Threepio... I built him... when I was 7 years old...

Luke: No...

Darth Vader: Seven years old! And what have you done? Look at yourself, no hand, no job, and couldn't even levitate your own ship out of the swamp...

Luke: I destroyed your precious Death Star!

Darth Vader: When you were 20! When I was 10, I single-handedly destroyed a Trade Federation Droid Control ship!

Luke: Well, it's not my fault...

Darth Vader: Oh, here we go... "Poor me... my father never gave me what I wanted for my birthday... boo hoo, my daddy's the Dark Lord of the Sith...waahhh wahhh!"

Luke: Shut up...

Darth Vader: You're a slacker! By the time I was your age, I had exterminated the Jedi knights!

Luke: I used to race my T-16 through Beggar's Canyon

Darth Vader: Oh, for the love of the Emperor... 10 years old, winner of the Boonta Eve Open... Only human to ever fly a Pod Racer... right here baby!

Luke looks down the shaft. Takes a step towards it.

Darth Vader: I was wrong... You're not my kid... I don't know whose you are, but you sure ain't mine...

Luke takes a step off the platform, hesitates, then plunges down the shaft. Darth Vader looks after him.

Darth Vader: Get a haircut!

I  wrote this for my English class. My teacher wants me to get it published, but I decided to post it here for your reading pleasure. It stemmed off of a story I wrote last summer in Cali while at my grandmothers house. The original story is only 3 pages long and as you may be able to tell this is a bit longer... In other words around 9 pages undouble spaced in word with 1 inch margins.

I want a new title though. I just got this one from a song I was listening to on the Once On This Island soundtrack.

Hey guys!
I know I mentioned yesterday that I made a Star Wars movie & I was going to upload it. Well, guess what I come bearing. LOL!

Now, a few warnings. The file is HUGE! It’s altogether around 9 minutes, 45 second long. Hence I split it into two files: the actual movie and the credits (The credits are cool, not just business-y! ...it also contains a TV spot and really cool extras).

Also, not everything is in order and I did leave a few things out. The most noticeable out-of-order moment is I used two different moments from the scene with the Chancellor and Anakin at the Opera House in two different spots. Not to ruin the surprise for those who are reading this and haven’t seen the movie, I also left out the …umm… entrance of an old rival of Kenobi’s at the end and the arrival of certain younglings to Tatooine and Alderaan.

I created this for SW fans so I’d love it for you guys to upload it, watch it, and post comments (*HINT, HINT* I love my comments!!! ; )

At the same time however, I spent around 5-6ish hours on this. PLEASE give me credit if you decided to upload it anywhere or do anything with it. I gave credit to those I got my footage from, please give me the same kindness

Other than that, enjoy! I love you all

May the Force Be With You

Imperial Guard #1: Until you come and get him, we're not to enter the room.

Yoda: No, no, no. in the room You *stay*, and make sure leave *he* doesn't.

Imperial Guard #1: And you'll come and get him.
Imperial Guard #2: [hiccups]

Yoda: Right.

Imperial Guard #1: We don't need to do anything, apart from just stop him entering the room.

Yoda: No, no. *Leaving* the room him not.

Imperial Guard #1: Leaving the room, yes.

Yoda: clear is that?

Imperial Guard #2: [hiccups]
Imperial Guard #1: Oh, quite clear. No problems.

Yoda: Right.
[Yoda turns to leave the room, both guards follow him]

Yoda: Where going are you?

Imperial Guard #1: We're coming with you.

Yoda: No, no, no. Stay here you do and make sure leave *he* does not.

Imperial Guard #1: Oh, I see. Right.

[GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!! |Battle of the Heroes ~ SW Ep. III Soundtrack]

I had just typed an near enitre entry and I just got kicked off. Grr... Oh well, back on.

What have I been up to? Nothing much.  Just an intense desire to go and see Star Wars for the third time!!! It's soo good!

Nana's getting kicked out of her retirement home. Long story. If you're really interested call / IM me (Meg816)... or post. I just really don't feel like typing the whole involved affair. I find it slightly humorous but I think I'm the only one so far.

I've been busy in rehersals for The Wiz at Skyfire. It's my second time doing the show, and this time is soo much harder. The choreography is soo much more involed than Suaber's production. The cast is great though. Rita (the director) keeps calling me her long lost daughter.... I should explain. Our last names are 2 letters different so people constantly are asking me if I'm realted to her.

When I met her for the first time on my "audition" date she thought it was hilarious and has introduced me as such since. It's histerical. I got to actually take a day off on Thursday last week and went to New Orleans with Mom to go see Drake's dance recital. We took the long way to get there avoiding the interstate through "Body dumping areas" and "the hoods." My cell phone ended up as a casualty. We stopped to get directions from a bus driver who saw us looking at a map & my phone went flying out of the car. It still turns on... and rings when I get a call... but I can't answer it and the screen, though cracked, is a rainbow of gorgeous colors.

The show was really good when we got there though. Drake was Elvis for a dance to "Blue Suede Shoes."

My favorite act however had to be the first I saw. I missed the first dance to get nachos (Hey! I hadn't eaten since 5pm the day before & it was 7:20!) and when I took my seat the curtain came up on a row of little girls dressed as (decent) French maids. In my mind I'm thinking "Oh, this will be cute." How was I to know that a second later, a drum roll would pound out of the giant speakers and Lumiere's voice would light up my face. (Get it? Light up? Hah!...I overslept.). Yes my friends, the song was "Be Our Guest."

After the show, and awards, and this, and that... (in otherwords 3 1/2 hours later) we went backstage because beig the dork I am I insisted on touring it. It was huge! The size of the right wing alone was equal to our actual stage at school!  I loved it. Then, we got to go to Cafe du Monde & get BEIGNETS!!! On the way from the parking lot to the Cafe we stopped at the ATM. Since it was in a dark area Mom looked at me grinning and asked jokingly: "You got my back?" Being the idiot I am, I whirled around, pressing my back to hers and said "I got yo back." and stood there looking around wildly until she turned around and swore she'd never take me anywhere again... for about the millionth time since my birth.

We also got stopped by a PARA from my old school, Mrs. Berry. She stood directly in my way and chidded me for not remembering her. I did, but beig the polite child I was I had tried to not run into her before the reconization hit. LOL

The beignets were soo good when we finally got there, but Drake had to try and ruin it by whining the whole time. Then we headed back, getting lost by NOCCA in a really bad neighborhood because Mom can't follow my directions.

Other than that the week's been kinda boring. I made a Star Wars movie which I plan on posting tonight in a few communitites. I warn whoever checks it out that it's long! With the credits at the end it's around 9 1/2 minutes.

I kid not.

Other than that all I have to do is go job hunting tomarrow. Shoe Carnival and the survey place in the mall are looking for people so... Blech. I swore I'd get one though in order to do The Wiz & Beauty and the Beast.

Well, I'm off. I'll post a few more things, but that's really about it until the movie loads. Only about 5 more minutes.

Tootles for now!

[GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!! |He's the Wiz ~ The Wiz]

Humph!

I am soooo..... sooo.... I don't know actually. I'm doing the Wiz at the Skyfire theatre and I just came from rehersal. We did choral work for an hour, then an hour for one "Ease On Down the Road." Mrs. Rita informed us that she's adding huge changes into the script including a song from the movie-version, changing characters on stage, and songs. Plus completly rearranging dialouge in scenes, adding songs....

It's going to take a lot more than I expected. I did the Wiz in Novemeber at school so I assumed knowing the dialouge & choral parts would make this play a breeze... Heh. Heh. Heh. Heh.

The only consolation I have is that I was told tonight that I sing like an angel by another of the chorus girls. That was really nice, especially since I was feeling out of sorts with my voice.

It really is the little things like that that can boost your self esteem as a performer when you're having a rough night...especially when about a half hour after that, you have to run and learn a dance that makes you want to just fall over and accept defeat.

I sound cynical and bitchy but I'm just tired from the drive home. I realy had a great time tonight. It's slightly hard because I'm at a theatre I've never worked at before, much less seen a show there, with a completely new group of people who know each other. I'm the odd one out, but it really doesn't feel that way. Plus, everyone listens to me for advice on different things about the show which is always great considering I want to begin directing soon...

I'm actually off to try and get more editing done on my MySpace account so tootles for now!!!

For those around me the Wiz opens July 29th!!!

Jedi “Religion” Sees Dramatic Growth [May. 19th, 2005|05:48 pm]

May 17, 2005

Jedi “Religion” Sees Dramatic Growth
(we’re not kidding)

by Jon M. Sweeney

Those adorable Wookiees are coming again to a theater near you. Star Wars: Episode III – The Revenge of the Sith, projected to be the final Star Wars film, was released in theaters nationwide on May 18. It has been exactly three years since the last film in the series, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (May 2002), and 28 years to the month since the first film, now titled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (May 1977), were released.

What is startling about the George Lucas-inspired Star Wars phenomenon is not the advent of another movie, but the real ways in which people around the world appear to be forming a religion out of the Zen-like, Tao-like words and actions of the characters.

The Anglican Digest reported in its Lent 2005 issue that the first school to teach Jedi was recently opened in Romania. “Courses at the Star Wars Academy include the correct use of light saber swords, and lessons on how to speak Wookiee, the language of violent furry creatures in the films. The academy’s founder, Adrian Pavel, said he decided to open the school in response to requests from fans,” wrote The Anglican Digest editors.

The BBC reported three years ago, timed with the release of the last film in the Star Wars series, that at least 70,000 people in Australia declared themselves as followers of the Jedi “faith” in the last Australian census. They wrote-in “Jedi” as their response under the category of religion on the census form. Hard-core fans of the films have been trying to have Jedi declared an official religion around the English-speaking world for years now.

The same situation occurred in New Zealand in their census taking of 2001. Similarly, more than 390,000 people in England declared themselves Jedi in their census of the same year—a shocking number when you consider that only 260,000 people in England declared themselves to be Jewish. There are various Internet campaigns going on now that encourage voters in the U.S. to petition for Jedi as an official religion on the next U.S. census form.

George Lucas once said in an interview with Bill Moyers: “I put the Force into the movie in order to try to awaken a certain kind of spirituality in young people — more a belief in God than a belief in any particular religious system. I wanted to make it so that young people would begin to ask questions about the mystery.”

But perhaps Yoda and his gang are not just Zen-like, but Christian. Yes, says Dick Staub—radio commentator and Gordon-Conwell Seminary grad—in his March 2005 book, Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters. He highlights, by simulating the “voice” and manner of Yoda in his writing, how the behavior and concerns of a Jedi master are similar to the priorities of a Christian.

In his blog, Staub relates the process he went through in the writing of his book: “I reread all the Star Wars scripts and made a list of issues involved in the training of a Jedi. I looked at those themes through the lens of all the ancient religions, refreshing my reading in Lao-Tzu, Buddha and others. I focused on Christianity, the early Fathers and Christian Classics, because it is the spiritual tradition I know best and personally, and because just as Star Wars is a predominate filmic myth, Christianity is the myth most embraced in the West, and because I agree with C.S. Lewis and Tolkien that Christianity is ‘the one true myth’ that underlies all others.” (
www.christianwisdomofthejedimasters.com)

Staub continues, “What I searched for were the consistent core beliefs and practices that should have been handed down from one generation to the next, but hadn’t been. I ended up with forty-one sayings from Star Wars with commentary on how they translate into radical wisdom in the Judeo-Christian tradition. An example would be when Yoda said to Luke, ‘Do or do not, there is no try.’”

George Lucas was baptized a Methodist, and raised in a Protestant home. Since that time, his views on spirituality have expanded greatly through study of Eastern religious traditions. The simple fact is that, through the Star Wars films, Lucas’ spiritual vision has had a profound effect on two generations of spiritual seekers.

Lucas also said, in that interview with Bill Moyers: “I would hesitate to call the Force God. It's designed primarily to make young people think about the mystery. Not to say, ‘Here's the answer.’ It’s to say, Think about this for a second. Is there a God? What does God look like? What does God sound like? What does God feel like? How do we relate to God? Just getting young people to think at that level is what I've been trying to do in the films. What eventual manifestation that takes place in terms of how they describe their God, what form their faith takes, is not the point of the movie.”

Star Wars: Episode III – The Revenge of the Sith, releasing this week, is the first of the Star Wars films to garner a PG-13 rating, for violence and dark themes. We see Anakin Skywalker transform into Darth Vader. There is a dark side to religion that Lucas understands, and this last film in the series makes it clear what can happen in a world where the Force is taken seriously.

[GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!! |Transformation ~ BatB]

Hey everyone!

I'm in a kinda foul mood after getting bitched out by two Ashlee Simpson freaks for stating an opinion. They then proceed to bitch me out for not appreaciating that everyone has an opinion. I do appreciate that fact... but why, according to them, can't I? Hello? Can you tell your logic's flawed?

Jeez! It's probably two idiotic fan girls with no other life, but I really don't see why they have to target me. Grr... I HATE STUPID PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, I stayed home today. My alarm didn't go off until 8:54 so I called Mom to tell her I was running late. I got dressed adn was running to see if Mikey was blocking my car in, when I realized Mom's car was still there. I went to her room and explained. She snapped at me, then as she was leaving told me to stay home and work on my report. Which I'm off to do now since I'm too pissed off to write in here.

I JUST LEARNED TO DRIVE A STICK!!!

Whoo!!! Go me!!! Go me!!!

I'm on the phone with Moony. I had to tell her.

Mike & I were out in the garage talking about how Mom never drives the Kharmen Ghia. I said I would drive it except for hte fact I don't know how to drive a stick shift. Mike hopped in, backed it out and told me to get in the passenger's side. He showed me everything (clutch...gears...brake & such...) and then backed to the end of the driveway and drove back.

Then we got out and I was got in the driver's seat and started it, then changed the gears and backed to the end of the driveway, then drove back. Then the Steakout guy came with our food.  He started talking with me about the Ghia. Apparently his father blew up his Bug's engine and is currently rebuilding it. Then we took the food inside and after putting it on the plate,  Mike said we could go out and I'd drive it around the block.... Post after rehersal!!! (Sorry, but I gotta go!!!)

I'll post more in a minute!
